help - too much light ?

I noticed my leather mushroom (green/purple) did not open up yet today and yesterday and only about 1/2 opened (by opened i mean polyps extended)

PH was a little high yesterday (8.6) but is back down to 8.1-8.2 today and clacium was a little low at 330. Alk was ~8.2

I noticed the leather wasnt well extended during the day but seemed to be late at night after lights went out

I upgraded from 220w VHO to 440wVHO 4 days ago and the coral is at the top of the tank. All other corals seem fine.

Could the coral now be receiving too much light ? Is this possible ? I also did a waterchange saturday but all params are good including salinity and temp.

no.. you might have changed it too fast.. you should have ran them just a few hours everyday and a little more every day to ease it in.

I added to mh's 2x175w this weekend.. and i'm running them ~2hours every day.. for the first week..

too much.. naaa.. I think its toutouche that runs his tank at like 12x the wattage per G. i believe you and I are at the 4 to 6x so quite in the range.

moving.. so temporarily out of SW :b8:
planning next tank, possibly 60x30x20 on 2x plasma.

should i reduce it at all or just leave it as is ? guessing it'll adapt.... was also thinking of moving it lower.

If you're not changing the photoperiod, then moving it lower is a good bet. It may still act as if you've offended it for a few days or even longer, but should be fine. As was mentioned, over the long haul that's not "too much" light and it should benefit once it's adjusted.
