    Not Sure whats going on

    HI Guys,

I had my tank going along pretty good since march.

Over the last couple of weeks I have been losing fish. During the day you see them around colour is great. the are eating fine. Thus far I have lost the following

    2 clowns
    1 blenny
    2 chromis.

Off course not all at once over a period of thee weeks.

The weird thing is every time this happenes I find nothing .

    Check all test

    An 0.25
    Nitrite 0
    Nitrate 0
    PH 8.2
    KH 9
    CA 440
    TEMP 81
    SEL 1.025

There are no clicking sounds in my tank.

Last night I dropped a bottle in with a nice piece of scallop in it and this morning no luck with the trap

I have been change about 10% every week where it's a new tank.

The largest LPS I have is a 2 head torch

I feed the tank a mix a frozen foods and some slow sinking flake. I use selcon every couple of days and drop of garlic in the frozen food mix.

I was wondering if anybody had any Ideas or has had any experience like this before.

At this point, it can be literally anything!! I'll really stretch on this one and say perhaps the food spolied somehow? Have you had any out of the ordinary temp. swings? Is your water being oxygenated well? Is your temp always around the 81 mark? If not, then you can possibly have an oxygen depletion.

    Question

AMM,0.25 correct me if I'm wrong here but shouldn't you have 0.0 AMM in your tank. it shouldn't be detactable at all.

Greg - I had just added new dual 175 MH. I did turn down my heater 1 notch. If any thing it would go down about 80F over night. During the day I have not seen it higher than 81F.

I keep a 802 powerhelp aimmed towards the surface . There is always a nice ripple out there.

How do you know if your frozen food is Bad?

How do you know if your water is well oxygenated ?

JR - I will test again today . I thinking the AMM spike was caused by my clown disapearing the day before.

Barry had given me a mini one that he said will not get any bigger.

I was on the look out a bristle starfish. I have yet to see him

That will teach me for aquascaping so you cann't see into the back caves.

I took about 5 hours non stop building all these caves and passages in and around the LR and the back of the tank is closes from the sides. So you cann't see down through.

I thaught it was a great idea at first. the fish love it.

Yeah, the mini brittle stars aren't a problem. It would need to be a fairly large one to eat fish. I've heard of people getting them small in live rock and then they grow and become a problem but I don't think your tank is old enough for that to have happened.
