    Jagger,
If this is the fish you're referring to, I don't think it is reef-safe. I've already packed my books in anticipation of my move, maybe someone else can chime in?

According to liveaquaria, they are reef safe with caution (I guess personality is a variable), and can be placed with other butterfly fish if introduced at the same time. It claims a 50 gallon is okay, as long as the fish is kept peaceful and well maintained (shouldn't they all be?).

according to "Marine Fish" it states.. can be kept in a reef tank with some of more-noxious soft corals

I think for the most part it depends on the personality of the fish. My maroon clown (who's supposed to be the devil incarnate) likes to sleep with my coral beauty and cuddle up to my hand. It's all up to the fish. It may be worth a try.

    Andrew,
I would say it's NOT reef safe, but that's just my opinion... If you're willing to take a gamble with some of your corals, then go for it. For what it's worth, you should never "really" trust what's written on LiveAquaria as advice and compatibility. They are a store that is trying to sell stuff and tend to generalize on the positive side in order to get you to buy.

I have had a pair of these in my reef last year.... not reef safe.... they pick at your corals.

Luckily they came out rather easily...
    It's not junk, it's un-assembled DIY!
