    Golden Butterfly

Does anyone know if the Golden Butterfly has a liking for Anemones or Clams?, kinda know about corals, shrimp, but was wondering if anyone has any info on Tridacnas and anemones.

    Thanks

I can't speak from experience but I've been doing a lot of research on these fish as I'm looking for them as well. I've heard both sides unfortunately. Some do some don't. Clams they are apparently more likely to go for than corals.

Have you been able to locate them in Canada? If so - where?

There are a lot of variables to take into consideration.

Mine is in a 230g well established reef, with another butterfly and a Moorish Idol. There are five clams now, and will be more when I get my new lights set up.

None of the above mentioned fish eat sps, or bother clams or anemones.

I feed these fish MASSIVE amounts of food, (requiring excellent skimming) and also provide frags of the things they DO eat, like xenia and green star polyps.

Reefs are different for different people, and sometimes there is a trade off to keep the fish you want.

Oh Wayner, you mentioned shrimp? Was there a concern there? I have 3 cleaners and a fireshrimp. She mainly acts like a tang for the most part.

Thank you Ladies, nice to hear EmilyB that your clams are safe, seems keeping them well fed with a variety is certainly important.

Flame: I would probably think that J&L would be able to get them in, I've noticed they have them listed on their site, I've also seen them at Big Al's here in Calgary.

    EmilyB:

You seem to have a model citizen, do you think I should add one before I add corals, clams & other fish or save the Golden till the end., or does it matter?

    Thanks

I've seen these on a few lists... they retail for roughly $100.... tough to find but do show up every now and again.

Hi EmilyB, John said its much easier to get a golden butterfly then to get a fish from the red sea.

moving.. so temporarily out of SW :b8:
planning next tank, possibly 60x30x20 on 2x plasma.
