Joe Burger's beautiful tank got messed up with that cuz he switched. As you said many others had problems too - of course others praise it.

Just want to see what the cause of it is......
thos ehtat set up new tanks with this salt have no issues.....its only when they mix the two during the change over via water changes that it F*&^S their systems up.

Just bugs me that all this life is perishing because of a salt mixture.

I've been using it on all my tanks for just over a week now... everything seems fine but then again I think its too early to tell.

You might want to try asking Richard... he also switched. Hope this helps.

Heard it wiped Richard's tank out..........he was not too happy from I saw on Reef central.......I believe he tried to change over via water changes....seems all is fine when a new setup is created with the new salt
There is from what I can conclude a chemical reaction between the salts when they are mixed.....doe not matter to what degree of water is changed....very little seems to cause issues.

Although I wasn't using the Bioassay Marine Mix, I did switch from Kent to IO and so far so good.

The Marinescape guys told me some people buy different brands of salt and dry mix them together. That way if one salt is high on a particular toxic metal, its effect is diluted.
If the authors of "Finding Nemo" knew anything about Clownfishes, Marlin would turn into a female and Nemo would become her new husband.

    That's sneaky GoSUV.. hehe

However, I really think the "metals" issue is kinda moot if you think about how much crap we dump into our aquariums every day via food, adititives, Calcium/Alk suppliments, etc.

Sure you don't want to dump "bad" salt in from the start - but you would also have to very carefully monitor what goes into your tank.

As an example, did you see the last post about metals from Randy? Brineshrimp are evil.. not only are they fish candy, they have the highest content of aluminum by far than most foods, etc.

I dump a lot of food, melt a lot of "gravel" in my reactor and add calc/alk suppliments.. There's already too much to worry about.

    OH well..

Thumbs up CRYSTAL SEA MARINE MIX

Just ask me if I had any probs with this salt!!!!!
    HAMMER faded,1xSPS bleaching from base.
    COLT hasn't opened since[3months I think]
some other corals fade but did regain some color.
CORALINE algea dissapeared. All this stuff happened almost immediatly after I switched. Many, many reefers having probs when switching over but not if they start out with just CS.
    weird eh! I'm junking mine.
