    Help! Connecting RO/DI

I have an Aquasafe 100GPD with 3.2 gallon tank and faucet. I also have a Kent Marine's complete float value and shut off kit, and an in-line TDS meter. I got a Rubbermaid 23 gallon garbage can for storing the RO/DI water for aquarium.

Please help me to connect them. In the picture I marked 10 locations from A to J. If you can refer to these locations when answering it will be much appreciated.

    Here are the questions:

    1. The Kent Marine shut off system I got saying its for 10 to 60 GPD. Can I use it for the 100GPD unit I have?

    2. Where should I connect the blue tube that comes with the auto shut off package?

    3. Where should I connect the yellow tube that comes with the shut off package?

    4. Where should I connect the IN of the in-line TDS meter?

    5. Where should I connect the OUT of the in-line TDS meter?

    6. Where is the output for my 23 gallon storage can?

    7. If I want both drinking water from the 3.2 gallon tank and the water for aquarium, how can I do that?

    8. If I just forget the 3.2 gallon tank and drinking water, can I forget the 6th stage carbon cartridge?

    Quote from apoon:

    Here are the questions:

    4. Where should I connect the IN of the in-line TDS meter?

The inline connects to where water enters your R/O from the mainwater line you connected to by either sadlevalve or faucet connection.

    5. Where should I connect the OUT of the in-line TDS meter?

This is connected to the waterline from R/O going to your rubbermaid 23 gal reservoir.

    6. Where is the output for my 23 gallon storage can?

Ouput is done by the method that you choose,I use a float switch electronc (from Tang Man) in my main saltwater sump, when water goes low a pump(powerhead) in my R/O water reservoir (like you its a garbage pail) starts pumping water into the main saltwater sump.

Another setup some use is manuel Setup Float switch is connected via a hole drilled in the R/O reservoir the hole is drilled aprox 4-5" from the rim of garbage pail reservoir, water from the R/O pours directly into it and shutsoff once the water has attained a certain level .

And there is another way also that works on a solinoid.

    7. If I want both drinking water from the 3.2 gallon tank and the water for aquarium, how can I do that?

Do you have a pic of this tank? one way you can do by just connecting a T fitting but the presure is not going to be strong. You can also tap the 3.2 gallon with a PVC tap and fill up your water jugs when needed.

    8. If I just forget the 3.2 gallon tank and drinking water, can I forget the 6th stage carbon cartridge?

I would keep the 6th stage since you already got it.:

    Thanks Robin for the details.

Yes that is the shut off kit I have.

I am thinking connecting a T at J. Then one output to the faucet and another to the garbage can. But I'm not sure about the shut off kit connection.

Here is the picture of the system:

placing a T at J is exactly where I would put it.
For the Autoshut off did it come with your unit or you purchesed it seperatly.

The reason I ask is your unit seems to allready have one installed,it looks something like what you have in the center of your unit where the feed lines plugs into it.

The shut off I bought from IJO and the aquasafe from ebay.

The instruction for the shut off is not very good esp it is for Kent Marine ro system.

The swtich you see is for flushing the membrane.

You suggested the tds meter IN connect to A, but I am wondering should I connect it to location B, because we all know the tds reading from A is always very high. If I connect to B, I may well be monitoring the pre-filters. What do you think?

The TDS meter has a switch on it IN/OUT one is maed to connect to your A(in) and the other to I (out) if your water from the prefilters are dirty you will see it register in the out.

you can still hook it up the way you mentioned though.I never thought of doing it.

I verified Aquasafe unit on Ebay it is a shut off valve he has posted a pic with description.

Oops I thought that centre unit is some sort of spitters. Now I get confused, when will it auto shut off? When the 3.2 gallon tank is full? If this is the case, how can I fill the garbage can?

By the way, you are very helpful and thanks.

I must say after reading what Aquasafe puts as equipment into his R/O units they really are a hell of a deal.
