    Water cooler bottled water

Couldn't I essentially use that for water changes and top up water? I was looking at our cooler today and it's RO water... I can get 10Gallon jugs for 99cents a peice...

Does anyone else do this? Good or bad idea?

I use Culligan bottled water for mine, it's Ro/DI (at least that's what it says on the bottle...)

    You can 10G for $0.99? It's about $5 for 5G in Ottawa.

same here, sound like you found a good supplier. you should test the water before you put it in your tanks. use a TDS meter.

Where do you get it ? That is a great deal. Might be worth a drive to Yarmouth! We have an R/O tank under our kitchen sink but I used to use bottled water too.

It's actually at Canadian Tire. It's 99 cents with the deposit of your old empty bottle.

Almost sounds too good to be true. But hey ... at that price you can afford a TDS meter and check it from time to time. If it checks out on the TDS use it.

I buy from loblaws, the container is $12, but you keep it.

I think I've got about a 2g container, which lasts a little more than a week for my nano. 1 partail, top up, and about half a second partial & it's back to Loblaws. (costs $1.49 to fill it).

Likely not practical for a bigger tank, but my weekly 10% water-change invloves two 1 gallon containers & a coffee mug. Oh and I can measue & mix salt with a table spoon lol.

    Cheers!
