    c02 question

I was looking into buying a 20lb c02 tank from the states, and i was wondering how long that would last on a calcium reactor ?
It costs 41$ to fill up around here so thats why iwas wondering

depends how much your reactor uses and how much your tank needs. some reactors seem to be more efficient than others.of your tank is loaded with sps your going to go through the co2 faster.i would guess most people get 6 months at least. any special reason you are getting the tank from the us?

Yeah price, i can't find a 10 lb C02 tank in my area for under 150$ so 140$ after shippin and conversion for a 20lb is a good deal

My tank is only a 50 gallon too so i doubt i will go through it too quick

Holy cow on a 50g. That could easily last you a year depending on your load, even with a big load of stock a year IMO. But is that price including the brokrage fee for bringing it over the line?

Brokerage fees through USPS is only 15% of the value declared + 5$ and if its under 20$ you don't have to pay anything, with ups the same 20$ limit applies but its 38%

Fishmonger, that 20 lb tank will easily last you two years, maybe more. I have a 20lb bottle running at 220 bubbles/minute and it is just over one year old. I have a heavily stocked 240g sps tank and it looks like I still have some time left before it empties.

    Ok thats encoraging,
My tank is doing really well now i'm dosing a two part calcium alkalinity additive that i made myself so its fairly cheap ( extremely cheap actually ) but i would like to add a calcium reactor in a few months, so i'm buying the parts one at a time starting with the c02 bottle, then regulator and solenoid, and finally the reactor itself, i'm not really sure what to look for in a calcium reactor, i may purchase one of harleys, or may buy a commercial unit, any ideas ?

I haven't really had a good look at Harley's but I have had a good look at the reactor he has modelled his after and the design is good. A dual chamber reactor is a good idea to help remove some of the excess co2, there'll be less lowering effect on the tank ph that way.

Is there any reactors that you would recommend commercially, possibly one from ivan or something ?
