    Emerald Crab

I got 3 emerald crabs today along with all my snails for cleanup crew. Two were small and green as i know emerald crabs to be. the third was larger (perhaps 1.5-2 times larger) and was more of a pinkish color. Is it just a larger emerald crab in a different color? or is it something else? I also noticed that he looks like he is trying to kill or eat some snails that were turned over before they got a chance to right themselves, I even noticed my Sally-Lightfoot crab doing the same thing.

i bought three emerald crabs a few months back and one quickly grew 3 or 4 times bigger than the other ones. it also tried to steal fish from one of my anemones. the pink colour could be corraline

Emeralds are supposed to be green colored and while I am not 100% sure, I would say that the pinkish one might be a concern and not really an merald crab.
Sally Lightfoots are also not the best to have in a tank with smaller things. Most crabs are opportunistic feeders that will go after anything that they can grab.

Two weeks ago at the LFS here in Kingston I was also surprized to see two of the ten emerald crabs they got in their shippment to be red. I was told that it is fairly common. Didn't pick-up the red ones though.

Red Emerald crabs??!!! Hmmmm?? Again, while I'm not an expert, I will say that someone is trying to pull a fast one on you!! I have always known and read that Emerald crabs have hairy legs and are green.
