    Food vs. Overflow

When I feed my tank, so much of the food ends up flowing into the overflow box before the fish get to eat it all up (my previous tank didnt have an overflow, so i didnt have this problem. I would prefer the food to stay in the tank longer and float around to give everyone a chance to eat.
any ideas other than shutting down the pump everytime i feed?

You can use a feeding ring. Or soak the food before so that it sinks quicker.
I end up shutting the pump every time I feed. Especially when you feed cyclopeeze. That stuff floats even when you soak it.
    thanks.

    Feeding station

I use one under my automatic feeder when I'm on vacation.
Takes the fish a couple of days to get used to it. After that it works great!

On a side note, I don't use one when I'm feeding my fish. I let the food soak in a shotglass for a while, then slowly put controlled amounts in until they finish, then put some more. This minimizes what goes over the overflow.

I do however shut off my closed-loop while they feed to make it less turbid in there...

yeah, it is kind of ugly. I put it in only when going on vacation. Same with the feeder.
The feeder I have is also a Hagen . There's others out there, probably better as they have some sort of mechanism to keep the food dry. But this one has worked fine for me for the occasionally 1-2 weeks vacation. I don't have it in there long enough for humidity to be a factor I guess.
    thanks.

Alrha, I use an eheim automatic feeder and floating station in my old aquarium...
It has an integrated fan to help keep food dry.

    Here's a pic.
