Minimizing Smells from a reef tank

Ok heres my problem, my euroreef works so well , that if i don't clean the cup out every couple of days it reaks my room up, and the tank is in my bedroom which makes this doubly unpleasant, i allready have an airfreshner right next to it.
I"m looking for some ideas from reefers out there who know how to deal with this!

Have the skimmer empty into a waste collector such as this one from ReefConcepts:

This way you can use carbon against the smell, and also automatically shut down the skimmer when the collector is full.

    Yes and no.
It has carbon placed where it "breaths". Once the skimmate starts filling it up, there's a ball that floats to the top, closing the breath hole and effectively shuts down the skimmer so as not to overflow. The breather has a carbon cup to neutralize the skimmate odor.

So do you gravit feed that from a line in your original skimmer cup or does that replace it ?

No, it doesn't replace the skimmer's collection cup. It's gravity fed from the collection cup which overflow's it's skimmate out a nozzle, into the waste collector.

The Waste collector is air tight once it is full, thus shutting down skimmate production.

I really like that collect cup! I'm going to order one for my new tank which is next to me in my home office all day. For my reef, the sump is in the basement, so I just have it gravity fed to a 2 gallon jug. The jug has a small mouth opening so I just stuff a paper towel loosely around the opening. Keeps down odors.

    Flame,
MRC also has Waste collectors available. I think you ordered a MRC skimmer right? Maybe you could tag that on to your order as well...

Here's a link to the MRC Waste collector, http://www.myreefcreations.com/psaccessories.htm

And a picture of the unit as well.
