    depth of sandbed

    what thickness is the best for a sand bed in a refuge system I put in about 5 inches of oldsouthcastle sand should I add more also cleaning old tanks of calcium what is best

    As long as you have 4 inches of sand, it's good and don't go anymore than 5 inches because after that, you're just wasting your money on sand.

    Diluted Muriatic acid ( at Reno Depot for approx. $5 for the bigger bottle in the plumbing section) with some water is the easiest and fastest way to do it, other than that you can use a strong diluted solution of vinegar and water, but it will take you longer as it's not as strong as the acid.

    On a side note, be very careful using the muriatic acid, even when diluted, it is quite potent.
