    Talking ARC metal Halide Bulbs!!!

Well im going to make a statement here that is going to piss off alot of people!!!!

These ARC bulbs i got today from Ivan ( Aquaria.ca) 250 watt 14k Bulbs.. are the Same color of my 20k XMs!!!!! Slightly Brighter!!

NOW.. with that said.. ANYONE is more than welcome to drop into my house and i will prove it!!

I was trying to get some images.. BUT its not soo easy.. lol

Thanks Ivan.. It goes to show why would anyone spend $125+ per bulb for somthing like the XM.. when they can pay less than $50 for the ARC!!

    Thanks
    Michael

    That's great news Mike!

When you do manage to get pics, Try to get a side by side shot showing the XM and the ARC bulb.

    Comparisant Images!!!

Please keep in mind.. its soo hard to get the camera set to take better images.. Its a new camera!! .. but you can see they are pretty much the same Color.. the XMs are alittle more blue i think.. and the ARC's are slightly brighter!!

    Tooloud,
Can you do that same comparison "without" moving the camera? Do you have a tripod? In the 2 pics you can see that the camers angles are somewhat different from the positioning of the couch.
Having said that, yes I can see that they are brighter. Now..., time will tell about longterm lifespan though. I WOULD like them to be good longterm and dependable too.

    Toutouche..

I don't have a tri pod.. and nothing that hight to set the camera on! .. BUT i will be getting one soon.. and i will be able to post better comparisons.. once i get the settings of the camera better.. OR get my old one out again to use..

time will tell.. and these still need to burn in.. So mid next week i will try and get some better images.. by doing this.. i think it will work!

Install my 65k bulbs.. and set the "custom WB" to them.. then shoot the Other two types of bulbs.. Should give a better Color representation!

i'm running the 400w 20K ARC lamp over my 29g. Love the white-blue color (not as purple as most 20k's I've seen). I run it w/65w 10K PC, so it looks like most 14k's I've seen. The corals love it. I have a browned out acro that is turning a nice green w/purple tips, and a browned out LTA that is becoming fluo-green.

Anyone know where they are manufactured?

Tooloud, what about putting one arc and one xm in at the same time and taking a photo that way.
Also, about the brightness- keep in mind that lower k bulbs almost always look brighter simply because, the bluer the bulb (higher k), the more dimm it looks to our eyes.
