    Hippo Tang after Chromis??

OK I have never seen this before and hope it stops soon. I just went to feed my fish and noticed my hippo Tang casually following my smallest blue green chromis around trying to bit its tail. The Chromis dose not seem worried about it and there is no chasing or fleeing going on. Is there any chance that the Hippo might see the Chromis as a snack or become aggressive toward the other smaller fish in the tank? i have kept Hippo Tangs in the past and never seen them bother anything.

I've never heard tell of this either. Maybe if you change some rock around to disrupt territories he'll forget about the chromis?

PS - love your new avatar.

Thanks on the avatar Susan. It's the only decent PIC I have from the days of Film Cams. I also find this behavior very unusual. The tang has become pretty big in the 10 months that I have had him but the chromis even if the smallest one is a pretty big snake if this is what's on the tangs mind. The odd thing is the Chromis dose not even change its speed or direction

I don't think a hippo could hurt anything even if it tried- I wouldn't worry about it, I bet it will pass. Especially if the chromis doesn't seem bothered
One thing to consider is maybe the tang is simply trying to eat the chromis' poo. I see this a lot where one fish takes a likeing for another fishes poo and follows it around waiting for a fresh meal...so to speak...

Hippos usually are brown nosers- they are always sucking up, trying to please and not make waves...and eat poo.....

Liv ... the Hippo is about 4 inches from nose to tail tip and at least 1/2 an inch thick.
