Test kits just came in , how do i dial in my reactor ?

Ok, My test kits finally came in the mail today, Calcium, Alkalinity, and Nitrate from salifert so what do i test for while dialing in my reactor, my calcium is off the charts right now due to dumping in a little too much CaCl a few weeks ago lol

You would be testing for Ca and Alk while dialing in the reactor.

However, you may wanna perform some water changes BEFORE starting the reactor to bring down your Ca levels. The Ca Reactor will only raise you levels and possible cause a precip event.

Test what your levels are now, and report your findings here.

    Vince,
Let me be more precise about what a reactor does. It will NOT raise your levels to where they should be. If you have low readings beforehand for Alk and Ca, you have to raise it yourself. What a reactor does is "maintain" those good levels where you want them to be. It more or less, stabilizes the parameters to put it simply.
In Mark's case, you are right in saying he should get those Ca levels down to normal levels because Alk and Ca interplay and will affect each other.
I just want to make sure people don't get mixed up in reading what you said.

I'd say leave it, do nothing, and do another waterchange next week-end.

I read that a few summers ago when i first got into the hobby lol, i haven't been keeping up on my reading lately tho, now that i actually have the means to keep them stable,
Ill print it off at school tomarrow and read it( much easier to read something on print i think )
