    Sexing coral banded shrimp

I just added a CB shrimp to my tank. It has a bright blue patch on the abdomen. Somewhere I read that this is a female and the blue spot is the ovaries. Can anyone confirm this? Thanks!

OK, so to answer my own question I have found out that the bright blue in the thorax where the legs connect to the body can be seen in both species and depends on where they were collected. A female will have a green blue patch in the abdomen (vs. the thorax) which can be easily seen through the clear body. So mine is a male. Just in case you were wondering. ;-)

Be forewarned that adding another one may well result in the death of at least one of them. They are VERY territotial. Having said that, it is possible to end up with a mated pair if they don't kill each other first. Best to do it when they are small I think.
