    There's another search somewhere on this board, but the jist of it was, you can't get pickling lime in Canada and to keep using the Kent.

    Actually you can buy pickling lime in Canada (at least in Quebec) but it's a seasonal product.

    Explaining what I was looking for in French frequently landed me in the juice isle, but after showing a manager a picture I got "Oh that stuff". Appariently it's put out around back to school time and gone off the shelves shortly there after.

    It's not a very popular thing I guess. We'll have to post a bunch of recipies for lime based pickles at the local grocery stores & start a trend

    Cheers!

    There are other sources for your calcium needs. You may want to investigate the use of Calcium Hydrated Lime typically available from your local hardware stores. The product I've been using for over a year now is Sylvite High Calcium Hydrated Lime. At $12 for a 50lb bag ... what can I say.

    Pros = it's cheap
    Cons = doesn't dissolve as well as the kent stuff (This would be very important depending on your delivery method ... drip or neilson reactor)

    Here is the link to some of that discussion earlier.

    If your calcium needs are low you may want to also follow gofast ro/argonite drip theory here .....

    gofast, so you can get pickling lime at bulk barn ??

    Im gonna start off my setup with your idea of a pail of top off water with aragonite and cc and forget about the drip...But I plan on having some sps and a clam later on as my tank is established and at that point Im not sure if ill need to setup a drip because of the Ca demand so its good to know!!
