    Poll: pH

just to get an idea where people keep their paramaters...
The subject seems to be coming up a lot in the threads.
if you post, you can also mention the range and/or nightitme pH levels.

I have been running at 8.2 since day 1. Mind you I have not checked it any morning. Must try it tomorrow. Maybe my test kit just gives a constant value of 8.2

Hmmmm, I wonder if the skimmer shut down could have something to do with it. I know my pH is always higher when I have the window open - more oxygen. No skimmer would mean less oxygen.

I wouldn't worry too much, before I set up my kalkwasser reactor readings just below 8 were pretty common in my tank.

I agree with Susan. 2 basic but important things happen when you turn off the skimmer. they can both push PH down. 1- more waist is left in the tank to use up O2 in the decay process, 2- less O2 is being added to the tank. The total effect is a sudden change in the O2 value. i bet if your redox meter was running you would have seen a corresponding drop in the redox potential.

My ph varies from 8.0 to 8.2 so I put 8.1
Volitan, that sounds like a buffering thing- poor ionic balance. What's your regimen for calc/alk control?
