    copepods

i seem to have hundreds of copepods in my tank, there everywhere, is this natural? If not what fish or inverts would control them.
they only appear at night and my wrasse and perculas are asleep although i moved a rock today and the wrasse picked a few off as they scattered.

Good folks to have in the tank...although I suspect they might be amphipod's. Copepods are very small and can be hard to spot, but the amphipods are larger and quite obvious when you look at your tank at night and they go scurrying for cover. Beside's being a food source, pods help in removing waste and uneaten food.

How big is your tank? If you add a mandarin, you will see a rapid decline, but they often don't take to frozen food so you will need a very healthy population of pods to keep your mandarin well fed and a refugium to replensih what it eats..

my tank is 45g although i'm in the process of changing to a 65g with a 25g sump. There are literally hundreds of them, the whole back wall was covered with them last night.
I was just wondering if they're taking food from the corals?
