Euroreef Output Reaction Chamber attn Harley

I have been having a hard time controlling phosphates in my tank, and as i result i wanted to get a phosphate reactor, however i'm extremely limited in space, and i know that the media is much more effective when suspended in flow, so i've designed this add on for a my euroreef es5-2 in cadkey 99 ( so i did learn something this year in engineering afterall ) I plan on putting both carbon and rowaphos in the chamber.

I am hoping that harley can manufactur this part for me to my specifications, i think this will be a great addition to my tank, as the output from the skimmer flows through the chamber it will suspend the media in the water.

Lets see if the screen shot works :

I am going to fasten a screen at the top of the extruded portion of the base to keep the media in , and a screen that will screw on with the top to keep all the media in the reactor

Well, it's worth a shot!!! However, I don't know how it would be mixing the carbon and phosphate remover. What do yo plan to use..., Rowaphos or Phosban? Rowaphos can be used a lot longer than the carbon will be good for. So having said that, I don't think you should mix the 2 together. You'd be throwing out the Rowaphos prematurely.

lol well i don't run carbon at all now, and i think i'd only run the rowaphos once and awhile anyway

You can't do it that way. You have to have the Rowaphos online all the time to be effective. Also, it has to stay moist not to lose it's effectiveness so I don't know how you would keep it stored once it has touched the saltwater and more or less been contaminated in a way. Even if you think running the carbon that way is better than none now, it still won't be a good setup mixing the 2 together. The carbon will expire itself a lot sooner than the Rowaphos will and Rowaphos isn't exactly cheap.

I don't plan on running rowaphos all the time, i'm aware of how you are supposed to run it, i don't mean i'm going to take it out and then use it again though, i don't like keeping that stuff in my tank all the time, you can't judge how its effecting your corals if you do that, if you run it for a few weeks, then take a break for a few weeks, you can tell pretty quick if its adversly affecting your corals
