    First thing that comes to mind is .. what is the impeller and shaft made of. If these parts of the pumps drive system are not salt water safe they will rust and contaminate the water and / or fail. It is submersible so outside hardware is also an issue of concern in saltwater use. If it is saltwater safe it would be OK from what I see there. Send them mail and ask them what material the body is made of, the impeller and shaft etc.

    Ask about NOISE levels as well. these utility pumps can be pretty loud as they are not usually running in ones living room.

    oh crap ya never thought of the noise. its the reason why Harley Davidson doesnt make reef pumps.:imwithstu

    most utility pumps with a float are not meant to be run constantly.. only in short powerfull burst. they were not meant to run 24/24.. these are used when your drain in your basement empty. ( occasional use only i think )

    if you are going to look at pumps like these, you could check out the rona and home depot as they have those ( not same brand ) but very similar in stock.

    ma pump is a big block, bored out, 350lti with a hemi. pull start. oh ya w/ a 2" mack exaust.
