    Cool Gonipora &alveapora

I've noticed on a few sites the resurgence of reefers buying these corals. I've done the research and know there dismall long term success. This is for information purposes only.
anyone here have this coral how long, and tank setup. thanks.

Johnny. I had one under 40 watt lighting for over 18 months. It was in a fairly high current area (even though they do come from calm lagoons). It was in beautiful shape until I decided to redecorate the tank and moved it. It immediately started to wilt, and even moving it back to the same general area did not save it.

i had one once and returned it a week later after i learned of their poor survivability. Everytime i see one, i get tempted as they are beautiful, but would not buy one till there was an established way of keeping them alive in captivity.

Johnny, I bought that red goni that I posted a picture of the other day from a guy that was getting out of the hobby. He had it for a couple of years. I hope that I can be lucky enough to do the same. It looked like a baseball when I put it in my tank, and within minutes, the tentacles came out, and it's looked great ever since. Mind you that's only been 2 weeks. I'll keep my fingers crossed.

I had a red Goni for over a year and a half.
It was beautiful and grew so big that it took up 1/2 of the old 3 foot.
It was in low/medium flow, 130 wt PC, 2 x actinics, 1 x NO, cheap Skimmer, no sump, over fed fish, never fed it, don't use phyto.
It only showed signs of recession when I moved it after 1 1/2 years.
