Does this hurt the mother colony? Will it grow back?

Xenias are weird creatures. Toutouche gave me of his super-gene strain Pop-Poms, so energetic that they pulse in the bag during transit. Anyway, these are going great. :biglaugh2 What I find peculiar is how they "move" on the rocks over time using their gelatinous stalk. Strange.

Dark: thanks for the tip. These creatures look flimsy but they must be pretty tough to survice what these guys do to them... :hammerhea

I do the same and just clip a stalk at the base no problems at all.. Grows like crazy. Use some thread and maybe a toothpick to hold it onto a rock or cruched coral base (whatever you are using)

    Michel,
If you have any extra frags, I'll take one as I lost the mother colony quite awhile ago.
Just cut it at the base of a branch and sew it to a piece of rubble. Keep it in a low flow area for about 1 week and it should attach on it's own by then. Sometimes, the mother colony won't even close up when you cut it. New stalks will just grow from the cut in no time .

Sure. I'll prepare a few for your tank. Sorry to hear about your mother colony. Did this happen last summer when you lost all those SPS (after a sump change if I remember)?
