    Scarface Blenny

    Cirripectes vanderbilti
    Scarface Blenny

    - Endemic to Hawaii
    - Very common on shallow reefs but darts into holes when approached
    - Dark brown with red eye ring and lines on the head
    - Attains 4 inches

I found him while doing a search for something completely different... I want one!!! I'll name him Tony Montana.

Ivan, can you look into it?

Ok Tang_man....I don't want to burst your bubble but I have seen one of these fish. The head shot you have is a gorgeous fish but they don't have a body to match. The body is brown and doesn't have the same beautiful markings as on the head. I will include a few pics to illustrate this. I had a friend once tell me that the LFS near me had one. I looked it up on the net and found that exact pic you have. I was very excited as this fish was only 39.00 CDN. I ran to the LFS only to be disappointed in what the fish truly looked like. If you still like it, then that's great. It just wasn't what I expected.

    Thanks for the headsup Mouse.

    I may have to reconsider...

Should note that the 2nd picture that you posted is of a dead specimen. Fish are very different when dead in terms of coloration.

    Thanks though!

This is the little guy that I have on every list that exists. I've been wanting one for quite some time now and these guys are cute... the whole body has those spots.
