    Picked up some base rock

I was in Montreal visiting relatives and decided to pop over to see Stephane (Reef Solutions). To my surprise he had some 40lbs boxes of base rock. Base rock seems to be a hot commodity these days. No one in town is able to get their hands on it. Well, I am pretty happy with the quality of the rock I bought from him. I figure it will save me some big bucks, since it is only $2.25/lb compared with 7.99 and 8.99 for LR. I know it is not the same, but combining this rock with LR is a much cheaper alternative. I don't think it will be long before I won't be able to tell the difference.

Those are nice big pieces. BR is preaty much scarce around here. Me and my buddy got like 150lbs from big als just before christmas and they don't have anymore. Well nothing worth taking. Actually we were prety lucky, we got there just as they were counting up the new stock. We took everything streight from the boxes and got a discount, for something like 4 boxes. Now all they have are those designer pieces at like 5 bucks a pound. It was tufa rock prety good if you ask me, full of holes, it was very light. So little water displacement and lots of room for bugs. It is calcium based also. What kind is yours, it looks alot like mine.

To be honest with you I don't know what type it is. It is not tufa or lava rock. It is very porous and it has some forms of corals on it. I think it may be dead live rock, if that makes any sense.
