Yup... There are nice and bright!!!

Thanks for again for all your help Mel!!!

Peluche: I had a combo of VHO/NO lights before... I will be adding in some new VHO's actinic as soon as I get another pay check :

And I did not have any corals in that tank... I wanted to get the proper lighting for them first!

I'll be visiting IVAN (AGAIN) soon!

And I hope to get a few frags at the MASO meeting!

Well, if you didn't have any corals how can you tell the difference. Personally, i think too many people think mh is the only way to go. Many people have VHO only have corals that the MH guys would think impossible to keep.

Well my VHO / NO setup looked like crap... It was a butched job... So I wanted new lights...

I decided to go MH by seeing different tanks...

I was in the market to get new lights for the 65g... By comparring prices... MH is not as expensive as I thought... So I went with MH...

    Not running MH lights,eh????
You can tell the difference with or without corals..., it's like night & day!!
By the way yes, there are lots of corals that can be kept without MH lights, but most of said corals will do even better with MH lights..., and I'm not just talking about SPS...
Also, the difference in thinking the corals are doing good or not comes from experience and seeing the difference.
For example, many people think when they see a LPS coral such as a Frogspawn or Torch expanding more over the months and seemingly getting bigger, that it is growing and thriving, when in fact it is only stretching more and reaching for more light because they are in reality suffering. There are ways of actually measuring how a coral is doing/growing/thriving.

    Hi Toutouche.

You mention "there are ways of actually measuring how a coral is doing/growing/thriving".
    Can you elaborate a little?

I was referring to the example of the LPS corals. many people think the meaty expanding part getting bigger emans they are growing. this is not true. The way to tell if the coral is growing is when you have 2 things.
They are the heads growing bigger and dividing ( which translates to the coral growing more branches), and just simply having actual "new" skeletal growth of the branches and main body.
