My sps under NO's and no skimmer trial...

On the first of Jan this year I bought a pocilipora, stylophora and montipora.
As circumstances prevailed, they have had to be kept in the 4 foot and under 3NO's and 3 actinic, and as my old skimmer didn't fit the new sump, (I'm not a metric genius...)I have to go skimmerless untill the 5 foot is up and running in a few months.

The results of the under lit, under skimmed SPS???
    Rather good.

Minimal color loss, the growth is obvoiusly slower than if they were under MH's, but the monipora has still manged to grow over the putty.

Here are the pics of the pocilipora taken on the first day of introduction.

    And after nearly 3 months.
This one was unfortunately under less light than the others (if that's possible) and in a low flow area where the surface water wasn't clear . This has been recently rectified with better plumbing, (thanks to my b/friend) with the results to follow...

    Disclaimer:
I do not endorse the above practices for keeeping SPS, and do not advice others to do the same......:hammerhea
    Parameters:
    Nitrates - 0ppm
    Calcium - 420ppm
    Alk - 8dkh

    water changes: one so far.

    Other inhabitants:
    ocellaris
    fire goby
    lawnmower blennie
    blue tang
    copperband (and eating!!!!!)

    Assorted other corals.

The smaller sizes chosen (frags) were due to not having kept SPS before and not being too confident in my ability to keep them. My b/friend helped calm my nerves...
