    Stop me from giving up!!!

I have been battling an algae bloom for a couple of months ever since I had a power head let go and create a huge whole in my sandbed. It kinda looks like cyano only brown. It has stringy bubles etc. I have tried all the usual:

    sucking it out
    water changes
    little or no light
    little or no food
replaced my bulbs 4x 110W vho
Tried Poly Ox for a couple weeks

    Nothing seems to work!

    I have no phosphate
    I use RODI 0 TDS
    PH 8.3
    DKH 10
    Ammonia 0
    Nitrite 0
    Nitrate 0
    Calcium 400
Tank is 90G with sump and Fuge with Macroes
    110 lbs. LR
    4-5" sandbed
    Euroreef CS6-3

    I have 20 Nassarius snails
    30 Astreas
    15 turbos
    1 tuxedo urchin
    5 emerald crabs

    1 RBTA
    1 maroon 3"
    2 bengai cardinals
    1 flame angel
    1 Foxface 4-5"
    1 Regal Tang 2"

Make It Better!!! I am losing my mind!!!
    Any other suggestions?

    Thanks
    R

What do you use for water circulation in the tank itself? My guess would be that there is not enough water flow.

i have my 2 returns from a mag 9.5 pump.. and the surface current looks like heavy winds over a lake lol..

and the algae is moving back and forth.. i will most likely get 2 maxijets 1200 and wave maker lol.

My return is a spraybar with 5 jets pointing in different directions about 900gph and also a MJ1200 blowing across the front.

The flow is just over 10%....I would add another MJ at a minimum.

Anywhere near a window so that it gets a lot of natural sun light ?

My opinion of course...your mileage may vary.

I would suggest to add a few more MJ1200's if you can. I have 4 in my tank (90 gal as well) on top of the return and I figure that I would need more flow.
I think most of us have had to deal with cyano and it's definately a PITA but keep on blasting it off the rocks with a turkey baster and try to remove as much as you can by syphon or net. If you increase flow I think it will help.

Hang in there, you will get rid of it

Not near a window and I thought about adding another MJ1200 but I think my softies would probably not like it. They seem to close up with more flow and if I get anywhere the sandbed it starts to blow around.
