I believe this product , does not remove nitrate but offers more area for the denitrifying..... But once it has max would 'nt the nitrates build up again???

My best answer to de-nitrate was the addition of 6 mangrove pods and a whack of chaeto. Skimmer slowed WAY down after I added the macro and pods. Only way to go, natural!

Water changes work too, but I like the mangrove idea. Now if I only had a sump!!
