    Bellus Angel... FINALLY GOT ONE!!!

I'm happy to report that after looking everywhere (and requesting) for over a year, my LFS has finally ordered and brought in a female Bellus Angel for me!!

He actually ordered 2. Both were sold inside of 15 minutes of being put on display. I however got to choose which one I wanted!

Being that she just arrived this morning, she will stay there for a minimum of 7 to 10 days to make sure that she's healthy and eating. So I'll be taking her home probably next week.

For those of you who don't know... The Bellus Angel is part of the Genicanthus family of angels. These are plankton feeders and completely reefsafe. Others in this species include the Lamarks, Swallowtail, and Watanabei for example.

Here's a picture of a Female Bellus Angel:

    apoon,
The one i have on reserve is in perfect shape, and about 3.5" - 4"... They grow to a maximum length of 7".
Requires a minimum tank of 75gallons.

If you find one, make sure to keep an eye out for swim bladder disorders and ofcoase if it's eating. These fish come from deeper waters, and as such sometimes suffer from decompression. Also keep an eye out for raised scales or sores as they are sometimes "needled" to help against decompression.

    Melameedo,
Keep en eye out.. you never know

TM, do you have to pay extra to have the LFS (which LFS?) keep it in their tanks for 7-10 days? They got it in because you requested it? What happens if it goes downhill in the next week? Are you on the hook?

sorry for so many questions. That's a really nice fish BTW
    thanks.

    Thien,
No I didn't have to pay extra... He just added it to his order of other fish that he placed at the same time. He has a list of fish that I'm interested in... and whenever one pops up on a list from his supplier, he emails me.
The LFS I got it from automatically quarantines their fish for atleast 7 days depending on their health. If the fish dies before I pick it up, I have a store credit for that amount.

    Johnny,
That swallowtail of yours is also a beautiful fish... Have you seen a Japanese Swallowtail? Slightly different coloration...
