    Huge Bristle Worm !!

Check out the size of this thing that I finally was able to pull out of the tank. Mind you I had to totally pull all the live rock out to get him out though. Gave me a reason to do a once over on the tank too. Pictures on the site file.

Hey, I got a shell for my hermits, Supposedly empty that had a red worm like object in it that looked like your worm. Sort of a millipede looking thing. Could it be a small bristle worm like yours and why would you want to take it out of the tank?
    thanks

    Shane,
Was it completely a dark burgandy red ( like oxygen deprived blood), or was it reddish only at the ends? The all red one is an actual fireworm that can potentially be harmful to certain corals, while the other type is the common bristle worm and are good for scavenging. This type you want to keep. Another give away for the bad fireworms is if they are out during the day in full view. Apparantly, they know nothing will eat them so are not scared to come out in the daylight. Bristle worms only come out in the darker periods.
