    Question Strange Crab

I noticed my new sps acropora came with a small white crab living in the middel of it. I noticed it shortly after I put it in my tank. It's been in it all day and and is still there. It's obviously his home. Should I leave him there or try to get him out?

    Thanks

Geez!! Good purchases so far!! 1st acro and already with a crab!! You'll also notice that the corals with their host crabs are often the nicest & healthiest looking ones in your tank. That's because the crab grooms it and keeps it clean. Keep in mind that you cannot train an acro crab to go to a certain coral. You have to let it be and let it go where "it" wants to and there are different types of acro crabs for different types of corals.

    Thanks toutouche

It really makes my purchase a better one.

One question though, I have a cbs, a cleaner shrimp, an emerald crab, and a sally lightfoot crab. Would the acro crab be in danger from one of these?

    Thanks

No, it's a commensal realtionship it has with the coral. It cleans and grooms the coral and in return has a hiding place from the other guys. Also, those other crabs shouldn't be a problem if the acro crab is 'healthy. The others are scavengers and the CBS moreso an opportunistic' scavenger..., meaning they will only go after stuff that is weak or about to die. But again, I stress that they would not go after the acro crab.

Acro crabs are very cool, shine a flashlight on your coral after lights go out on your tank. The acro crab will be out cleaning the coral.
I have lost a few acros that had crabs , left the crabs in the tank now my frags that have grown up a bit have a crab of their own. The little guys must have lived some where else in the tank then move to the acro once it got big enough to host the crab.
