    Growth from acrosís

How long before I start seeing some growth from my acrosís?
What are the first signs and what should I look for?

In a mature and otherwise healthy tank, you should see growth within 1 or 2 weeks. Usually the coral will start to attach at the base first, but often you can see new growth on the tips too at the same time. It really depends though on what type of corals because different types have different growth patterns. The 2 I mentioned however are what you should watch for. For what it's worth, I noticed the biggest difference and boost in speed of growth once I started to use Rowaphos to remove excess phosphates. This is a real SPS stunter.

Really......Can I run that through my aqua clear like I run carbon from time to time?

That's what I am currently doing, using an Aquaclear200. But I am thinking of getting a Phosban reactor to make it more effective.

i just got a phosban reactor, and really it seems to do exactly the same thing as a aquaclear does, i don't know if it would make that much of a difference, it looks cool though

Doesn't the reactor keep the media in suspension, making it more effective?

Yes the reactor keeps it suspended by means of a reverse flow and this makes it more efficient/last longer. I am now using an Ehaim canister with the Rowa in a bag, but will be going with a reactor on my next setup. The reactor is less expensive than the Eheim was too!! Not a good judgement call on my behalf with THAt purchase!! But didn't know better about the media back then...

    Antonio,
To be the most efficient, the media should be in an enclosed canister of sort so that the water is forced to "pass through" it. If it were simply placed in a bag and thrown in the sump for example, it would not work well at all. This media also has to be used 24/7 to be effective.

I'll have to try the phosban reactor. Currently not running any media in my canister filter other than carbon. I too wish to get maximum growth from my acro.

Well I have a fluval 404 that I use for my chiller with nothing in it, its simply used as a pump right now, I guess it will be better to put it in there for now.
How long before changing it? Should I change it like I change carbon? Once a week? or does it last longer?
