    Question starfish owners

My starfish had managed to sneak into the overflow box so I removed him. Within 1 hour he found his way back in but I'm not sure if he can get back out. what is he hunting in there? I afraid he will block the overflow screen and flood my tank.

I think that his tank inhabitants are all hinting that they want the big tank soon!!!

for sure he knows were he's going!twice I put him on the other side of the tank and he heads straight for the overflow!
There is a lot of crud and hair algea in there so this must attract him big time. I just can't believe his sense of direction!

    Pornking,
Stars such as what you've got eat "Biofilm" mostly. All the ones I've kept do not tend to follow currents in the tank and yours shouldn't either. However, they do tend to often hangout at the water surface and sometimes you will even find them with an arm or two outstretched onto the surface of the water. From the other replies, I think you don't have any type of gate or screen on your overflow, correct? If not, then definitely put one. I would bet this is why your Goby also went Awall!! I am also surprised that you haven't had any blockages by snails yet!!!

    starfish

of course I have a strainer over the drilled outlet[that would be a rooky mistake not to] but the teeth on my overflow box are wide enough for him to slip through. He must love all the junk in the box because as soon as I remove him he goes straight for the box! they must have awsome sensory glands or whatever. so far though he moves around the box but doesn't cover or go near the strainer. He must feel the sucking current and just avoids it.how is yours doing greg? maybe we can trade starfish frags! do people do that???

    John,
What are you using as the teeth on the overflow box? Is it the eggcrate style stuff? My overflow has this as the teeth and in the beginning I had problems with my Cukes and Cerith snails sneaking through it. What I did was simply double it up on the inside of the overflow box but the 2nd layer, I placed off centered from the first one so that the squares were cut to half the size. This has stopped everything from going through, yet the water still flows with equal ease.
As for the star frag trading...., I think I'll hold on cutting my star for awhile!!
