holy macro! and to think we were impressed with their cameras!
The water in that tank must be better quality than the ocean! How many gallons is all that for? (i would have expect some nicer fish though). Must be that the Japanese men have a free'er hand when it comes to the finances, i dont know any wives on this side of the world that would allow that in the same house. Well that is one heck of a set-up, and judging by the pics everything looks so clean and organized (which i do appreciate as a neat-freak/perfectionist). Either its all been done new, or everything is so automated that the extra time onhis hands can be spent cleaning (unless he has a robot to do that as well).
It doesnt surprise me that the laptop looks like a Sony.
May we all be blessed to be able to, God Willing, one dayhave such a set up ourselves (and of course a tank that is worth all that).

The answer is simple..., by geeeeently steering to the right!!!

    ALHRA,
The common concensus with these Japanese tanks is that, like all other things they do, when they take the plunge, they really go all out!!!
As for the quality of the corals, in Japan they are willing to pay a very high premium to get that "special" show piece coral. They get stuff you will NEVER see in Canada and the States.
As for the fish, if you do a search on other Japanese tanks, you'll notice that the entire tank is often planned out with a theme, such as color. So the fish will usually be chosen for a certain color to match the corals at times and nothing else.
They also tend to use direct spot lighting of different color spectrums on tracks over particular corals to "showoff" the coral in question. Kinda like theatrical lighting.
Awhile ago, there was a member on RC that was in Japan and had one of these particular setups. Wehad a big discussion with him about their theories behind the types of setups they use. I tried to find it but the search function is not working very well at the moment.
Personally, I along with lots of other people find lots of these tanks too sterile looking with absolutely no trace of algae or dirt. Kinda makes you wonder of they are permanently setup or just setup at the moment to take the pics.Take a look at this thread for some more Japanese pics. I peronally like the 4th pic for the absolute intense colors of those corals!!
