Coralvue MH bulbs (ne1 using?)
I changed my 250W 20k XM bulb out Jan. 1st of this year. It was replaced with a 250W 20k Coralvue and I'm not pleased so far. My corals just don't seem to being doing as well as before, the coraline algae is now covered with a layer of green algae, and there are signs of cyno now.
Anyone use this bulb? What are your impressions?
I have my old bulb and I wonder if I should stick that in and order another on...

I had a bad experience with the old Coralvue bulbs, after getting complaints from several members on RC they changed the bulb to a new version and I have not heard anything about it,but like alot of other people I would never chance it again.
Why did you switch the XM 20k`s when they are so popular with good results?

I started with coral views (2 x 250 @ 14 K .. I think that's what they were) and I was happy enough with the light at the time. I did in the end switch them out for 10 K Ventures because of firing issues with the coral views. I am much happier with the light the Venture bulbs deliver. they are said to be the same as 13 K PFOs

I had three CoralVue 250 watt, 10000Ks, and bought them because they seemed to be all the rage on RC at the time. probably about 16-18 months ago now. I eventually took them out because I found the tank dull and lifeless under them. No shimmer at all and very dull looking. I had heard people saying that their corals turned all kinds of insane colours under them, but mine never coloured up. I wouldn't touch them again.

It's been a week with the XM bulb back in. The difference is very noticable. The corals are extended more and the colors are starting to return. My Green Acro is green again... not brown.
