    Coralife Super Skimmer 3000

I just bought this skimmer. I bought it after reading the many rave reviews off RC.

    http://www.esuweb.com/cardfile.asp?I...lationship=326

It is awesome. two inches of dark skimate in 24 hrs, and it hasn't even broken in yet!

This skimmer is under 250$ and I recommend it highly to anyone who wants a great skimmer on a budget price.

Again, incredible skimmer. A super skimmer if you will.

yes i just got this skimmer too. i haven't set it up yet since i still need a sump first but i did ran it for a few hours and it works great.
what size did u get? i got the 65g one for 130 shipped.
micky do u find that u have to close the valve from the pump so that it doesn't flood the collection cup? it floods the cup even if i open the open the adjustment dial all the way open

Vu I got the 220 Gal one for my 120, it was under 250$ shipped.

I didn't find it floods the collection cup... I ran it for about 6 hours with 10% foam in the neck, then moved to four inches for a dry skim (as per the instructions).

I'm not sure what valve you're talking about though... can you shott a pic?

i didn;t see a pic of the valve in teh manual either. it;s one that u attach on to the neck of the outgoing side of the pump, and then attach the flex tube onto that then to the skimmer. it;s just an adjustment valve that lets u reduce the pump flow. maybe they only include it with the 65g cause they use the same pump as the bigger model

    Hey Mickyfin,
can you tell me if this skimmer is recirculating or not?

Looks tempting, do you have any pictures of it running?

    Thanks dude.

Vu, must be there is no valve on my pump. The airline tube on my skimmer attaches to the *input* of the pump so that the needle wheel can dice the bubbles up.

Not sure if it's a model difference or this is why you're getting overflows?

No. This is not a recirculating skimmer.

It takes water and air in to the pump (which is a needle wheel) pumps into the body of the skimmer and out. It uses a small vavle (not a ball or gate valve but more like a ball) to set the height of the water / foam interface.

It is however getting pretty good reviews and being a needle wheel without a beckett it is considered fairly efficient.

i only have this problem if i use the bubble defuser cause it restricks the outgoing flow. do u use the defuser in your sump? is it necessary?
