    Fish Jumping

    Just a quick question...

Do you think a fish could (but more importantly WOULD) jump out over a 9" tall open canopy? What about the same canopy with a 6" protective "lip" of either egg crate or acrylic?

I'm talking tangs, wrasses, firefish, etc. here. My goal in designing the canopy is to keep the fish in while avoiding the obstruction of any of the light.

    Thanks!
    Jenn

    Jenn,
You mainly have to worry about wrasses jumping. Other fish do occasionally jump, but not as much as wrasses.

That said, here's a little trick. I've used plastic gutter mesh on the backs of all my canopies. The stuff works great, easy to work with, lets all the air/light in and out, and it's CHEAP.
