    Need help. Advice

I just got in a new 120g sump and started filling it today. I currently have a 90g display and a 77 g refuge, Total water volume I would say about 100g and now Iím going to plumb another 100g of water into it. My question to all is. Will this be ok to do without causing any new cycles? I figure it should be as if I did a major water change. Iím not adding anything to the 120g, Just water.

Please help. Donít want to take any chances!

I wouldn't worry about a cycle, but, I would introduce the water slowly.

After you make sure the water matches temp and salinity and is well oxygenated, I would feed water to it slowly letting it slowly overflow into the system. I assume that is how it will be plumbed, overflowing back to the existing sump / refuge.

Adding 100 gallons to a ~100 gallons of water is comparable to a 50% water change, which you wouldn't do normally without a severe cause.

btw, it looks like you used 1 inch for the intake for the skimmer, you would get better flow, I think, if it were 1.5 inch..

sorry, I meant intake for the pump feeding the skimmer..that piece of pipe that does a 'u' over the edge of the sump.
