    Thoughts on Liverock?

Ok everyone. I need your thoughts on the different types of liverock that are available in Canada specifically.

I may be placing an order for about 70 lbs of liverock soon, and I'm not sure what type to get.

I've heard great things about JL's Kanai liverock, and the pictures look great as well. However, I'm wondering how dense the rock is, and if they are a nice size and shape...

Then there's premium fiji rock, waltsmith rock, marshall islands, tonga...

    Need your thoughts please....

I have tonga deepwater. I find the shapes to be good to work with for making lots of caves. Lots of different colors of coraline. You may want to check out http://www.seacare.org/, but give them a call because they don't seem to update the web site.

    Talking tang-man

my thoughts on this is a little of all of them are good! I find most of the rock we get in this trade is FIJI so why not try something else! I 'll be getting IVAN to order me a box of as many different kinds as possible when the magic time comes.
Can't beat his prices to date.

We got some from seacare I can't remember, Jakarta I think. It was supposed to be uncured and came cured so there wasn't much of anything except maroon coralline but the shapes were really good.

actually, what we got was Vanuatu Ultra Live Rock, cured from Sea Care. it was supposed to be uncured. it didn't have alot of life, but as aven said, it has good shape. but i only got around 10 lbs, so it's hard to tell what a bulk order would look like.

I spoke to (Tim I think?) over at Seacare...
He quoted me $7.95 per pound for the Vanuatu, which is kinda outta my price range, as I'd still have to add about $1 / lb shipping it here...

Jeez. I picked up 7 pounds of LR here today for $11.99 a pound. You mainlanders got it easy!

The rock is called Miyaki. Very very very diverse rock. It has 4 different corallines on it, encrusting corals, macros...really nice rock.

I've ordered Walt Smith rock via J&L and was very dissapointed. So, I cant recommend it, Especially when my ordered was lost temporarily. Not a good experience at all.

The best rock I've got locally was from Egypt somewhere. All kinds of different shapes and sizes.
