    Tank Parameter Help

    Hi All,

All parameters are good except the following:

    PH - ~7.8-7.9
    Calciuim - ~390-400
    Alk - ~90mg/L = ~ 5 dKH I think

What should I do first, raise PH and then re-evaluate ? Is the PH of 7.8 too big of a fluctuation from 8.2-8.3 ?

suggestions are greatly appreciated... along with these params there seems to be a small algae bloom and some of my DSB going brown...

    In my tank:
77g with 2 false percs, no corals, 3-4 mushrooms as well as small number of cleanup crew and emerald crabe

    thanks !

    Nick.

Nick - Have you tried measuring your pH at different times of the day to see if its consistently low or if it is a pH swing?

    Hey Nick,
I usually go after the Alk myslf. You dont have any corals so going after the pH is good too. With no corals, just go after it with some KW. Should do the trick.
BTW, there is nothing terribly wrong with your tank so dont worry about it.
You might already be doing this, but try topping off (evaporation) with a saturated KW solution.

    Keep us posted.

Oh yeah, KW is an excellent balanced calcium/alk additive. I dose it as my top-off, and unfortunately my evaporation doesnt keep up with my coral demands. So I supplement with Cal/Alk additives.

oh, so you're saying that its now enough KW, so yo add additional B-ionic or whatever, ok - thats what i do.
