    Question "green" coralline algae??

I now have in my tank in small patches what looks like coralline algae except it is lite "green". It is growing in the same fashion as the pinkish purple coralline but is lite green in color . Without doing a bunch of research on-line is there such a thing as green coralline algae?? Do I want it???

hey neat, i get the same thing, except its not coraline algae, its just really stubborn green algae, i think it has something to do with my water that makes them grow like that

I don't know if it is just a type of algea or actually green corraline algea, but whatever it is, it is perfectly normal. And the good thing about the stuff is that it ISN'T hair algea!!

Matt .. you have it in your tank or have seen it ??? It looks exactly the same as pink / purple coralline but is green. Is slow growing, prefers mid tank level and so far is only on the glass. It feels the same to touch as well?

I have purple, red, yellow, pink, orange, and green coralline algae. Different parts of the globe will have different colours. Here's a link to the Doc F&S site where you can see some different rocks that have different colour of coraline algae.

    Hey OSD,
Perfectly normal. In fact, most of the back wall of my tank is encrusted with green coraline with occasional pink here and there. My rocks however have the reds, pinks, oranges, and even purples. The only bad thing I see is that it makes your tank look dirty (having the green coraline)...

Rob, yes I have it all over. I'm sure it is on my rocks as well as glass, it's just harder to recognize on a rock than on glass since the rock is irregularly shaped.
