    signs of ich ?

    Hi All,

I noticed on one of my clowns today a small white patch that seems to be hanging off the back of his tail, as well as what looks like a sand grain sized white thing closer to his head.

    could this be ich ?

I also noticed him rub up against a rock once or twice in the last week or two.

How/What should I do to treat if it is ? I don't have a quaratnine tank.... in my tank i have another clown as well as a frogspawn and a toadstool

    thanks,
    Nick.

    Nick,

If you think its ICH.Try adding some garlic in with there food.Garlic works great.Just let the food soak in the garlic.

Well he does have an xtremly good appetite (tries to east anything i put in the tank such as fingers, hydrometer, etc...) but he has been pacing alot along the glass last couple of days.

The thing at the back of his tail seems to have a small black dot on it as well... I'll see if i can get a pic. the white spot on his body looks like a grain of salt.

The smaller of the two fish looks fine. water params are

    ph - 8
    alk - 6.4
    sal 1.026
    nitrate - 0

I don't think that's ich nbreau. Sometimes fish get stuff stuck to their mucuos coat for awhile. See if it is still there tomorrow.

As long as it's not velvet ... hopefully just some parasite. From what I've read, clowns cannot contract ich ... they can have other diseases that are peculiar to only clownfish.
