    pink algae

I have been having alot of pink algae on the rocks and on the glass of the aquarium. I heard that this is good algae. But unfortunatly is not liked by my wife who thinks it looks like dirt and I should scratch it off. What should I do? Is there a harm in scratching it off? Or should I keep it becomes all over the back and the side. I am hoping once that happens it won't look bad.

    puzzeled. :confused-

Sounds like coraline algae, and yes, it's good stuff.
You can scarp it off....but it will come back.
Most of us end up only keeping the front glass (and some the sides too) clean.
Definetely not worth the effort of cleaning off the back glass.

It's coraline algae generally speaking a sign a good water quality/light. (Don't take this to be the ONLY indicator though!)

What I try to do is, to scrape the front and side glass panes and leave the back glass to grow over with coraline. Though I admit anyone who has seen my tank latley can tell I'm a little behind with my scaping!

Is this pink fuzzy algae like pink cotton? If so, that is bad. Worse than bryopsis.
