    Question Aiptasia removal

    Hi there,

What sort of success rate are people finding using Peppermint Shrimps to eat aiptasia? I have some in my tank that I noticed just encroached a polyp group and it concerns me. I'm thinking of adding a PS on Saturday to eat them whilst they're still small. Any thoughts?

Joe's Juice worked perfect for me. Haven't seen any in 8 months.

sometimes they won't eat it, but chances are good they will...

joes juice, kalkwasser, vinegar injections are all options.

I have heard mixed reviews regarding lazy peppermint shrimp.
Try it, and if that doesn't work the mysterious "Joe's Juice" (at your LFS) works amazing. I hate using chemicals but I will say that it works and quickly too! No harm to other inhabitants as it is topical (applied to the area affected).

I've had literally over 60-100 aptasia on my Lr rock and they were all successfully removed with 6 peppermint shrimp. And i must say, they do eat them, itís only a matter of time. When I first introduce 6 of the peppermint shrimp to the tank, they did not do anything for a week or 2.
    Good luck.

I had aptasia in my tank and I used Joe's Juice. Killed them all but a few, that just seemed to keep coming back.
I put in a few pepermint shrimp and they ate them all, with the exception of 1.
However, the pepermint shrimp also ate all my sun polyps....completely polished the rock clean.

Another thing to try (and it's real cheap) is hot vinegar. Use a syring and inject the aptasia with it.
I have not yet done this, but many here have and with good results.
