Coraline Algae
Figured I start another topic of the week...
I have a Sun Aquatics 20k lamp over a tank that Coraline Algae just does not want to spread in... yet on the same system but with a PFO 13k lamp... it grows like there is no tomorrow... so fast that all walls are covered and clean just under the overflow where little light reaches. Does the color temp have such a huge impact on growth?
What type of lighting? What K rating? Water parameters? does it like clean or nutrient rich water? Thoughts?
That should get us going

I have found that light pink coraline grows all over the glass, but dosn't grow very much on my rock. On the other hand deep purple coraline will grow very well on the shaded parts of my rock, but never on the glass. This is a 10 gal tank with 2 X 32 watt 10,000K PC, and 1 X 32 watt actinic.

I had good coralline growth for awhile, but suddenly slow. I figured its on account of higher than acceptable phosphate. I added a po4 remover and still don't see increased coralline growth. Ca. is over 400-420. KH is about 9-10.
mg and strontium added regularyl by addition of b-ionic. 1 x 10k blue actinic and 1 x 10k daylight bulb. My littl acro tricolor is doing well and growing, however. what's missing?

Its alright now thanks. I think the problem was phosphates so now using phosguard and see new purple growth. The tank is 6 months running.

Coraline Algae
This might not be related, but I also had a problem not being able to get coraline algae in my tank. This changed when I started dripping kalk.
