alk is fine bud... as to why it dropped... any other parameters moved up or down. that magnesium is fairly high.. at that end of the scale, your nucking bad algea.. which is not a bad thing, but not necessary in my mind. 1000 and up and your happy. magnesium adds to the stability of the ca and ph..but too much result in funky params.

also.. maybe lowering your ca will bring up your alk
380-400 is great for CA, over that its not needed, corals wont benefit from it.. your pumps will die sooner from ca deposits.

moving.. so temporarily out of SW :b8:
planning next tank, possibly 60x30x20 on 2x plasma.

    Smile Alkalinity Question

    liv

Thanks for the quick reply. I have cut down the run time of my Calc Reactor 15 minutes each cycle. It runs 1 1/4 hr. twice each day (once in the morning at 9:00 am and once at night at 8:00 pm) so it is now set to only run 1 hr each time. It has 60/40 of Calc and Magnesium so it should take care of both parameters.

I have been following your tank build from the beginning and what a sweet setup you have.

It looks alright to me, just be careful that it doesn't fluctate all the time. You said it was different before and now it changed. As long as it's not changing again, I guess you will be fine with the values.
