    what is going on ?!?!

Over the last 8 months I've added 1/2 dozen corals to my tank... this includes a brain coral, a toadstool, a hammer coral, frogspawn and a finger leather.

The toadstool and brain coral have always done awesome.

Over a period of 3 months the hammer and frogspan both deteriorated and died off (kind of desintegrated from the outside in)... while the finger leather kinda started to melt and fall apart... once i noticed this it detiriorated rapidly.

I add calcium and Alk buffer to my tank and run regular salifert tests as well as drip Kalk. Params are alawys steady at 450, 8-9alk and PH is alwats around 8-8.3. nitrate < 1

The only thing that I could guess that may be problematic is salinity has gone a little high, up to about 1.028 once in a while.

I'm running a 77gallon DSB tank with 220w VHO (110w super actinic and 110w normal)

Any idea why some corals do great while the others haven't ? Do i need to be adding ioding, strontium or another supplement or should my corals be doing fine as long as the above parameters are ok ?

    thanks for any help...

    Nick.

What about temperature swings , if you had some extreme temp swings that could cause that

Optimum reading would be 0, I don't recall what the OK reading is (you can check your test kit). Mine lingers between 0 and .1

I'd re-check your amn reading if everything is ok.
